Thank you to everyone who donated in support of the Sesquicentennial celebration! As part of the celebration, the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee created two legacy projects. The Sesquicentennial Paver Purchase program and Glenview Road Beautification Project offer residents a unique opportunity to leave their mark in Wilmette and support the Committee’s work!
Sesquicentennial Paver Purchase: The alley between Wilmette Avenue and 12th Street just north of Central Avenue will be improved with a new pedestrian walkway, lighting, pedestrian crosswalk across 12th Street, and signage identifying the new space as Ouilmette Way. The new raised walkway will contain the engraved pavers that were for sale for the occasion of the Sesquicentennial. The project is expected to be completed in time for the big Sesquicentennial celebration on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Note, paver sales ended May 26, 2022.
Glenview Road Beautification Project: A total of 25 trees are being planted along Glenview Road between Wilmette Avenue and the Edens Expressway. Thanks to the generosity of Wilmette residents, businesses, and other supporters, this project was fully funded. Donors to this project who have gave $150 and greater will have their name included on a plaque recognizing their donation. Note, recognition for donations to this project closed as of May 10, 2022.
Communicator Recognition for Monetary Donations: Donations of $25 and above will receive recognition in the Commemorative 150th edition of the Wilmette Communicator! Note, recognition in the Communicator for general donations closed as of May 10, 2022.
