The Village of Wilmette was incorporated as a municipality in 1872, thus in 2022, the Village of Wilmette will observe its 150th birthday. In fall of 2020 the Village Board of Trustees determined that this milestone should be celebrated in a manner similar to prior significant anniversaries. To that end, the Village Board created a 15-member Sesquicentennial Planning Committee which first met in December 2020 and continues to meet monthly. The committee is working to create a calendar of events as part of the Sesquicentennial Celebration. These events and a variety of other projects are being developed by the Committee’s various working groups: big events, fundraising, arts, history, business, and promotion.
